Academic intrapreneurship for health care innovation: the importance of influence, perception, and time management in knowledge commercialization at a University’s Medical Centre

Abstract Academic intrapreneurship refers to the individual behaviours of scientists who depart from their customary research and education initiatives become involved in knowledge commercialization without leaving academia. This paper aims examine how academic intrapreneurs perceive respond organizational factors set by departments, faculties, schools, university boards that influence transfer, initiation an internal project, collaboration with societal stakeholders. We employ embedded case study approach role perceived control within work environment a process DiabetesStation, healthcare innovation at Erasmus Medical Center (MC), hospital Rotterdam, Netherlands. used semi-structured interview strategy analyzed 12 respondent interviews.
